Chapter VIII of the The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is entitled The Adventure of the Speckled Band. In this story, Sherlock Holmes is investigating mysterious circumstances two years previously which occurred to a young woman who was about to be married- but instead died suddenly. The twin sister is now worried because she too is about to be married and has experienced some of the same strange circumstances. Sherlock Holmes decides to go to the estate in Leatherhead....and he and his sidekick Dr. Watson catch the train here at Waterloo Station.
