Spectacular, yet elegant Memorial to the Fallen Military of Oshawa.

The memorial immortalizes those who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2 World Wars Korea Afghanistan and in Peacekeeping Missions throughout the world.
The semicircular wall, adorned with the statue of an unknown, helmetless WWI soldier, contains actual battlefield rock samples from conflicts and theatres of operation throughout the world. The oldest is from the Boer War campaigns in South Africa, and the newest is from Afghanistan.
On the front are bronze markers containing the names of the dead from WWI and WW II.
On the back of the monument are mounted the plaques of various Veterans Organizations, memorial plaques and bronze reliefs of units of the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, Merchant Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force.
On each end of the monument are engraved who the stones are from.
The inscription on the centrepiece stone reads:

IN THE GREAT WARS

Description of Memorial: The Memorial is a large semi-circular granite memorial. It is located on the east end of the appropriately named Memorial Park near downtown Oshawa. In addition to the memorial, there are gardens, a full bandshell, walking paths and plenty of benches to sit and reflect.
