This life-sized bust of Che Guevara depicts him wearing his beret with straggly hair, beard and mustache. He looks somewhat worried as he looks into the distance. The piece is painted gold...and it is difficult to determine what the piece is made from. It is set on a concrete v-shaped plinth about 5 feet high.
The plaque below the bust is in Spanish and reads:
"ERNESTO "CHE" GUEVARA
VISITO LAS RUINAS DE EL TAZUMAL, EN ABRIL DE 1954.
"SEAN CAPACES SIEMPRE DE SENTIR, EN LOS MAS HONDO,
CUALQUIER INJUSTICIA REALIZADA CONTRA CUALQUIERA,
EN CUALQUIER PARTE DEL MUNDO.
ES LA CUALIDAD MAS LINDA DEL REVOLUCIONARIO"
ESCUELA ERNESTO "CHE" GUEVARA, FLMN.
CHALCHUAPA, 25 DE JULIO DE 2009"
which translates as:
"Ernesto "Che" Guevara
Visited the ruins of Tazumal, in April 1954.
"ALWAYS BE CAPABLE OF FEELING IN THE DEEPEST,
ANY injustice done against anyone,
ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
IT IS THE BEST QUALITY IN A REVOLUTIONARY"
SCHOOL Ernesto "Che" Guevara, FMLN.
CHALCHUAPA, 25 JULY 2009 "
