This pair of salmon are mounted atop of post near the river in Salem's Riverfront Park. The salmon are made from flat, individual pieces of metal. They are designed to turn in the wind. At the base, a dedication plaque reads:

Natural to establish the amphitheatre at Riverfront Park.Where Riverfront Park now stands was Salem's industrial
heart at the turn of the 20th century. Capital Lumbering,
Matheny's Wharf & Warehouse and Salem Flour Milling were
among the predecessors located in the approximate area of
the amphitheatre today. Before Salem was settled, the
Kalapuya Indians reaped the native bounty of the central
Willamette Valley, and many wintered at this site. The dawn of the 21st century brings hope for the return in
abundance of the cultural symbol of the Northwest wild
