An awesome place to stand and enjoy the stunning scenery, a sensory experience at North Head lookout, this can be overwhelming as the often blustery southern winds rush up over the sheer cliff face with salt laden winds. You can look straight down into the churning deep blue waters of the Tasman Sea as it pounds the cliff base. Stunning views of the Sydney city skyline are visible from the Lookouts along the cliff top. Keep an eye out for whales on their annual migration along the coast of New South Wales.
From the carpark a loop track, a one kilometre-long paved pathway, leads to the lookout, and includes interesting information about local plants and animals. This pathway, the Fairfax Track, is a 1km paved pathway leading from the car park to the lookout. The track is generally gently sloped, with the gradient of three short stretches varying between 1:9 - 1:12. There is access to the main viewing areas, but steps go down to the northern lookout.
