Brugg was surrounded by a city wall in the Middle Ages; it was renewed in 1522 for the last time. Most of the city walls were demolished in the 19th century, but some substantial parts have remained in different parts of town.

This is a tower called Farbturm and a piece of the wall with a length of nearly 50 meters. It is located at the northern border of the historic center as part of the very small area north of the river.
