"Snow Falling on Cedars" is a story about a Japanese-American accused of murder on a remote island in Puget Sound.

The story reveals truths and memories of when Japanese-Americans were forced to relocate to internment camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Ishmael, reporter and editor of the local newpaper, recalls the pirates he read about in illustrated books his father brought him from the Amity Harbor Public Library.

The Amity Harbor Library is also a location site for the movie, "Snow Falling on Cedars".

In 1942, 1,200 Japanese Canadians were sent to Greenwood as part of the Japanese Canadian internment.
