The causeway allows National Parks staff in their four wheel drives to cross the creek & maintain the many tracks, lookouts & fences found in the park. It also enables Fire Brigades to access the country during bush fires. Water flows through two pipes set in the concrete during low flow & would flow over it in wetter periods. It wouldn't be advisable to cross it in the latter periods being only a few metres from the falls.

The public also have access to the track usually, but not exclusively, as part of a four wheel drive club. Otherwise this track is very popular with mountain bikers who descend into the Yarrunga Valley before eventually reaching Kangaroo Valley.
