One of the primary "Finger Lakes" carved out in the last Ice Age. Keuka has also been called Crooked Lake referencing the fork shape (all the other Finger Lakes are long, narrow lakes with no such prominent features).

There are dozens of public access views of the lake from the shoreline vantage point, including Yellow Jacket Park in Penn Yan, Keuka Lake State Park in Branchport and the entire length of Water Street in the village of Hammondsport.
Two of my favorite views are presented here: the fork in the lake from the west side (N 42° 26.443 W 077° 12.46) and climbing or descending Urbana Hill (Rt 16) on the south end (N 42° 24.533 W 077° 11.341). There are equally striking views from Keuka Village on the east side of the lake, looking Bluff Point (at the fork in the lake) from the eastern vantage point, and a myriad other points, both public and private.
