Although it is located in the main street of the town, leading directly to the center, this chapel is so discrete that it took me many times going to Tavira using such road to actually notice it.
A long time ago, one of the gates of the town was located next to the chapel. The construction of the chapel started in 1648, by the fraternity of Nossa Senhora da Consolação dos Presos, just formed.
