Blinkhorn Lake is the smallest of the three named lakes in Metchosin. The lake was initially identified as being a potential drinking water source, but that idea was abandoned after other sources were secured. The lake and surrounding land remained under the ownership of the Capital Regional District water department until it was declared surplus and turned over to Metchosin as parkland in 1998. The land surrounding the lake is now the Blinkhorn Nature Park, which includes a 1 km loop trail around the lake. The posted coordinates were taken at the only access to the water, which is a small undeveloped area on the shore close to the main trail.
