A brief history of the Masonic Lodge and its related 1948 building, per: (
visit link)
"Dispensation to form a Masonic Lodge in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas was issued by the Grand Lodge of Texas on May 23, 1893. On December 6, 1894, the Grand Lodge granted it a charter and assigned it number 748.
The Conroe Lodge is presently occupying the third building in its history. The first building was destroyed by fire on February 22, 1911 when the entire city business district burned. In April 1911, the Lodge purchased a lot on the east side of the present courthouse square and constructed a two-story building, which is still in use today.
The Lodge moved into its present quarters at 311 Simonton Street in 1948. The ground floor was leased to J. C. Penney Company for many years and is now occupied by Southwestern Furniture Company."
