Museum Africa is Johannesburg’s social and cultural history museum. It is located in what was once the city’s fruit and vegetable market, with a block-long facade, towering pillars and huge interior space.
Tapinocaninus was a plant-eating dinacepholian, a mamal-like reptile that lived 265 million years ago in the late Permian. Tapinocaninus pamelae is one of the earliest tapinocephalian known from South Africa.
This is a copy of the fossil. The original belongs to the National Museum in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The fossil was discovered by Professor Bruce Rubidge (BPI Palaeontology - Univ. of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg) and John Nyaphuli (National Museum of Bloemfontein). The skull was found in 1995, but it was only recognised for what it was by Canadian researcher Sean Modesto in 1998.
