Water skiing is available at Lakeland Cable Water Ski on Sukhumvit Highway, about 5 kms from Pattaya City. a huge fresh water lake, 9 acres in area set up with cable skis. The ski equipment, is available on-site.
Cable Skiing is a relatively new sport and requires a bit of nerve. It is definitely more difficult to get the hang of than traditional water-skiing from behind a boat because of the sudden jerk with which you start, however, participants can be coached to perform spectacular aquatic maneuvers.
A fantastic, and fun sport, there's no need for a boat and they say you can be up and skiing within an hour. Just try to slide with the cable.
They day of this waymark the crowds were small and the skiing was very reasonable - about 300baht for 2 hours or 500baht for the whole day.
I was assured by my companions that this is not as easy as it looks, and not quite like the experience of being behind a tow boat. I guess they would know since she is on the Thailand National Ski Team, and her husband, my cousin, was her instructor. But, still, it seems a less threatening way to learn the basics.
