Seneca Lake is the larger in area of the two largest lakes of the Finger Lakes, and at 618 feet is the deepest lake completely located in the United States. It is an impressive 38 miles long, but only 3 miles wide. The Finger Lakes formed after the advancement of glaciers blocked already existing streams. After the glaciers melted, debris left behind dammed the rivers, leaving behind The Finger Lakes.
Tourists come from all over the world to Watkins Glen to visit Seneca Lake, among many other attractions. You can view this lake from many many locations, but I chose this spot because of the scenic pier. Take a walk over the water and look over the lake or the marina full of beautiful boats!
