The “Flame of Friendship” or “Flama De La Amistad” is a nearly 21-foot-tall polished stainless-steel sculpture. It was presented as a gift and gesture of friendship from the Government of Mexico to the people of San Diego. It was dedicated October 31, 2000.
The sculpture was mounted on a specially designed pedestal that has plaques giving information about the sculpture.
Artist's comments:
This is a flame, but it's also an embrace. It is my hope for mankind that one day we will feel like brothers, act like brothers and love like brothers, instead of like adversaries.
