Saw these briefly going in for a hike. They were on the opposite side later in the day. Too far for a clear determination but they are either sliders or pond turtles.

Turtles are prey to possum and racoons. Both occur here at the Cosumnes River wetlands preserve. Because it is govt. property, it would not be a great idea to be seen helping. Driving cautiously would be a good idea.
