Jonas McNair came to Glendale in 1894,

representing the second wave of colonists to

make this community their home. The house

was built by J.B. Doner, at a cost of $400. The

house represents the Folk Victorian

architectural style exhibiting the gable front and

wing with Victorian turned porch posts. The

original house had three rooms. In 1929,

George and Mary Elizabeth White bought the

house and extended the back portion to include

a modern kitchen and a bathroom. The house is

a rare surviving example of nineteenth century

architecture in Glendale, and is one of only a

few remaining homes built in the late 1800s.
