This life-sized (or slightly larger) bronze statue depicts the goddess Salus standing piercing a dragon with a spear (very casually) while holding a long fern leaf in her left hand. The work sits atop a stone pedestal (about 12 feet tall) which doubles as a fountain.
Unfortunately there is no sign at the site indicating the artist. But it is dated 1986.

"Salus (Latin: salus, "safety", "salvation", "welfare") was a Roman goddess. She was the goddess of security and well-being (welfare, health and prosperity) of both the individual and the state. She is sometimes equated with the Greek goddess Hygieia, though her functions differ considerably."
