Located at the John C. Boyle Dam along the Klamath River is a fish ladder that zigzags its way up from the river level to the dam level and into a reservoir that the dam creates and which as been popular for campers, boater and swimmers and known as Topsy Recreation Area. The best way to access this fish ladder is to turn south onto a dirt road from Hwy 66 (Green Springs Hwy) and from a sign that reads 'John C. Boyle Dam' and park west of the dam and walk to the fish ladder from the north side of the river. I was able to climb up on top of the concrete fish ladder to get adequate pictures but probably not recommended for those scared of heights. I believe the dam was constructed in the mid-to-late 1950s and would assume the fish ladder has been here at least that long but could have been added in later years. This fish ladder shows up on a topography map (how I discovered it) and the map was from the early 1970s.
