"The ArsMálaga Museum has 300 pieces of African art that were donated by Ana Alonso and Alberto Jiménez-Arellano to the Diocese of Malaga. The couple have been collecting African art for more than 50 years. The museum has five salons on the ground floor that are themed. The museum has collections of masks, money, terracotta sculptures, small sculptures in bronze and iron, gold jewelry, furniture, and drums. There is a video of African ceremonies and dance, and there is African music too. Surprisingly there are contemporary art paintings also. Many of the great modern painters like Picasso and Kandinsky were influenced by African art. Artists represented are Oleaga, Luciano Díaz-Castilla, Magda Bolumar, Xavier Franquesa Llopart, Carlos Cuenllas, Joseba Eskubi, and Anthony Caro. This collection of African art is one of the best in Spain today." (
