Joseph Strong was a native of Granby CT, a graduate of Yale and ordained to the ministry in 1790 and served as town minister until 1803. The house was quite elegant compared to the other buidings in Heath, which had much simplier designs. Each of the subsequent owners made an imprint on Heath.
