This bronze sculpture entitled "Flight" is located in a four foot high median on the front courtyard of Nash Library. It is a long, swooping metal beam, with a pair of wings at the end. The measurements are not shown on the artist's website, but an estimate would be 12 ft. long and 10 ft high. Standing on ground that is already four ft. higher than the courtyard, this is a massive structure.
The artist is Archie Held (

A bronze plaque reads: "Flight" - Archie Held - Dedicated on Founders Day - May 16, 2008 - A sculpture in bronze inspired by Oklahoma's State Bird, the Scissor-tail Flycatcher, the limitless possibilities opened by a liberal arts education, and artwork of Native American artist Acee-Blue-Eagle, who painted murals in 1935 on the walls of the original gymnasium on the Oklahoma College for Women campus.
