EN: The late Gothic manor Neuhaus is situated in the northern periphery of Hölstein near the main road.
The three-storey house with an octagonal stair tower was built in 1671 by architect Martin Keigel from Liestal. The inscription over the front door provides information about the owners: "Anno 1671 Under Mr. Eusebius Merian And Mrs. Elisabeth Gysin this house has been built from scratch".
As an early mansion Neuhaus is still strong in the late Gothic tradition, but small details already indicate the upcoming Baroque style.
The Neuhaus is in excellent condition and has only been modified slightly over the centuries. It is one of the most magnificent late Gothic secular buildings in the canton.
DE: Der spätgotische Landsitz Neuhaus liegt am nördlichen Dorfrand von Hölstein in der Nähe der Hauptstrasse.
Das dreigeschossige Haus mit dem achteckigen Treppenturm wurde 1671 vom Baumeister Martin Keigel aus Liestal errichtet. Die Inschrift über der Haustür gibt Auskunft über die Bauherren: "Anno 1671 Under Herren Eusebius Merian Und Frau Elisabeth Gysin ist diess Hauss auss dem grund auff new erbauen worden".
Als früher Landsitz steht das Neuhaus noch stark in der spätgotischen Tradition, kleine Details weisen aber schon in Richtung Barock.
Das Neuhaus ist in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand und über die Jahrhunderte nur unwesentlich verändert worden. Es zählt zu den grossartigsten spätgotischen Profanbauten des Kantons.
