Spirit Square, at the junction of Yew Street and Mackenzie Avenue, has an interesting history lesson, spread out over about 15 bronze plaques encircling a large open area of concrete and tile. They cover a wide array of local subjects.

Fur Traders

Fur Traders Came to Kamloops in 1812 and the first fort was built near the Tk'emlups winter village.
They operated in cooperation with local chiefs like
Chief Pacamoos.
French-speaking traders called this great man 'Tranquille' for his calm and diplomatic leadership. From the Plaque
