These are two of many murals located in Vernon. The Fisher family children are enjoying a day fishing on the Shuswap River, reminds of the days when I spent many an afternoon fishing with my Dad, bamboo pole in hand.
"These two murals capture a day in the life of old Vernon. The Fisher children are shown fishing in the Shuswap River while Wally Fisher and his son Herb are depicted beside the family wagon after doing some logging.
The image on the left of children fishing on the Shuswap River is based on a photo taken by C.W. Holliday.
Fishing was a common hobby for children at the time. On the right stands Wally Fisher, founder of Fisher’s Hardware store, with his son Herb.
The Fisher family still runs the hardware store.
The Fisher Family mural was done by artist Tyler Toews in 2000.
All the murals are well done paying tribute to the artist's talent and creativity for any passersby to enjoy.
The murals are numbered and we will showcase
