This community settled by Polish immigrants exemplied the good fortune in St. Louis hardworking immigrants experienced. When the former North Presbyterian Church was acquired by Saints Cyril and Methodius Polish National Catholic Church, the area was further solidified as a Polish enclave. The Polish National Catholic Church is a dissident church spun from the Roman Catholic Church in America as a result of Polish Catholics discontent with the German and Irish dominmated Catholic Church of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Even as the demographics of the surrounding areas changed over time this area remained strong until it severed with the construction of I-70 through the middle of the community.
