Located on a building which is now serving as the La Quarencia Galeria de Arte, this plaque reads:
"De pocas partidas he aprendido tanto, como de la mayoria de mis derrotas.
Jose Raul Capablanca Campeon Mundial de Ajedrez 1921-1927
A los 80 anos de que jugo en este edificio una partida de simultaneas
La Habana 19 de noviembre 1888 Nueva York, 8 de marzo de 1942"
which translates to:
"In few games have I learned so much, and mostly by my defeats.

It has been 80 years since he played a simultaneous game in this building.
