After a very lengthy discussion about this school on Facebook, it was determined that this school, like the area it is located in, was called Victor. There is some useful information on this school on the
MOGenWeb site. It seems that some folks got kinda fancy when pronouncing the name and ended up calling it "victree", which got "immortalized" in the topographic map, which calls it Victory, rather than Victor. (However, I've found gobs of errors on the topographic maps!)
If you go to the MOGenWeb Barry County site and type in Victor into the search box, you will receive many hits. Some are for a family that lived miles away near Polaskifield (west of Purdy), which you can ignore; but there are also many hits from the newpaper files from the Victor area ("News from Victor"), and they match this area near Eagle Rock and the ghost town of Mano. One of the more elderly correspondents on Facebook insisted that it was always called Victor back to the 19-teens. Apparently, Victory was a mutilation over time. (It sounded better?).
