LOG CABIN
The log cabin was erected on the site of the former Presbyterian Church Manse. In 1991 the Friends of Keyteville, Inc. purchased a log cabin that was discovered within a home, formerly owned by George J. Damern, which was being demolished. Those logs were combined with the logs from another area structure that was donated to the organization by Ernest Bently, Sr. Working with the Friends of Keytesville, Inc. Stan Ross, art instructor at Keytsville High School (1973 - 1999), designed and built much of the reconstructed cabin. Starting in 2000 and concluding in 2005, the cabin was completed by both contract and volunteer labor. The interior of the cabin consists of a living room with a stone fireplace as well as a lean-to kitchen. A stairway leads up to a large loft designated for a sleeping area. The intention of the Friends of Keytesville, Inc. was to construct a log cabin similar to those that might have been in this area around the time Keytesville was founded in 1833.
