This Grand Canyon is smaller and quite different than the famous one in the U.S., but also interesting.

The Grand Canyon near Blackheath in the Blue Mountain National Park is a steep and narrow canyon that has been cut into the rock by Greaves Creek. At one point, it is 30m deep, but only 2m wide. In the narrow slot sections of the canyon, there are swirl holes and "wavy" shapes that were formed by rapidly and turbulently flowing water after strong rains. In other parts, rock layers can well be observed.

There is a nice circuit walking track through the canyon (6km, 3.5h) that does not require special equipment. Alternatively, canyoning is also possible if you have the required skill and equipment. You can park at the given parking coordinates or at Evans lookout. GPS readings may be imprecise or absent inside the narrow canyon.
