As a result their specialty is sapphires. They stock many other gems, rocks, jewellery made from their sapphires and rock hounding and prospecting equipment, supplies and literature.
One may even buy quantities of gravel from the sapphire beds which one may then sift through in search of sapphires. One need not even go out to the mine. They wash the gravel and remove all the larger rocks and stones, then sell the gravel by the bucket.
They are open seven days a week, year round. Below is a more comprehensive description of the outlet, from their website.
Gem Mountain Store
Our Gallery in Philipsburg is open seven days a week year-round with a great selection of Gem Mountain Montana Sapphire Gemstones and Sapphire Jewelry and a unique mix of rocks, fossils, minerals, crystals, prospecting equipment, rock hounding supplies, books, gold panning kits, souvenirs, teak furniture, wood carvings, butterflies, and of course, a great selection of Montana Sapphire Gemstones and Jewelry. We offer indoor gravel washing in the garage next door and always have our natural Sapphire Gravel in stock for mail order and gravel to go. You can order gravel on our
Gravel Store. If you would like to order or purchase something you see on the website and it isn't available "on-line" give us a call at: 406-859-GEMS (4367). You can talk to a real person, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
