County of site: Gordon County
Location of site: Old Dixie Hwy SE & US 41, N. of Adairsville

I was traveling from Dallas, GA toward my home in Missouri. I decided to take the old US highways and grab a few waymarks - if someone had not beaten me to them - and absorb some history in Georgia.

Great stuff in Adairsville, and smoothly moving I noticed this almost hidden bridge, and the street sign with said: Old Dixie Hwy SE
and I said to self...ins't there a category about this old highway?
Self said....not sure, but lets get some pics and we can check when we get home

Bridge pics came out, not sure what happened to the street sign (thank goodness is shows on Google map).

The hotels and sight seeing stuff is great...and flashy....but this is the true tombstone of the highway. They did not bother to remove the bridge, just bury it under junk and trash. Barricade it off and let it wither and die.
