Castor and Pollux were twin brothers in Greek and Roman mythology and collectively known as the Dioscuri. They were the sons of Leda by Tyndareus and Zeus respectively, the brothers of Helen of Troy. Their bronze equestrian statues adorn the gates of the Royal Palace in Turin (del Palazzo Reale di Torino). They were made by an Italian sculptor Abbondio Sangiorgio (1798 -1879). The statues were installed on the gates in front of the Royal Palace ca. in 1841.
