In the park is a beautiful cenotaph in an equally beautiful setting, surrounded by a wrought iron fence at the end of a walkway flanked by the flags of Canada and the Provinces and Territories. Behind the cenotaph is the Memorial wall, created primarily as a Second World War Memorial.

The wall is a low, wide exposed aggregate concrete wall of about four feet by twenty feet in size. On the west side of the wall is a mural of poppies and the opening lines of the Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae poem.

In Flanders Fields... The poppies blow...
between the crosses... Row on row

Here is the entire poem:

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Mature trees surround the cenotaph and memorial wall, the whole surrounded by manicured grass with benches on the perimeter.
