Dewey Jackson Short
"Orator of the Ozarks"
April 7, 1898 – November 19, 1979

Born in Galena, Missouri, Dewey Short served as our Representative in the U.S. Congress for 24 years, from 1929-30 and 1934-56 and was instrumental in establishing Table Rock Lake. He served as Assistant Secretary to the Army 1957-60.
