EN: The Gotthelf schoolhouse in the city district with the same name was created 1899-1902. The symmetrical, three-story building was designed by the architects Flück and Hünerwadel. The facade is decorated in neo-Renaissance style, the interior design in Art Nouveau style.
In April 1900 there was a building scandal because the scaffolding completely collapsed, caused by a bad design. Apparently, however, there was no personal injury case.
The schoolhouse has served as a primary school since the beginning, 1902 it was visited by more than 1,000 students, today there are about 800, but they also use some more recent outbuildings.
DE: Das Gotthelfschulhaus im gleichnamigen Quartier wurde zwischen 1899 und 1902 erstellt. Der symmetrische, dreistöckige Bau wurde von den Architekten Flück und Hünerwadel geplant. Die Fassade ist im Stil der Neorenaissance gehalten, der Innenausbau im Jugendstil.
Im April 1900 kam es zu einem Bauskandal, weil das Baugerüst durch eine Fehlkonstruktion komplett zusammenstürzte. Offenbar gab es dabei aber keine Personenschäden.
Das Schulhaus diente seit Beginn als Primarschule, 1902 besuchten über 1000 Schüler das Gotthelf; heute sind es etwa 800, die aber auch noch einige neuere Nebenbauten belegen.
