The name is given to this limestone stack that stands in a cove that is constantly subjected to the forces of wind and water erosion of the Southern Ocean. The path to the vantage point of the Razorback forks into a loop. While approaching, the left fork will take one directly to the most direct vantage point to view the limestone stack. If you spend a few minutes watching the waves crash against the coastline, you will notice another cave forming in the cliff face, which is likely to one day form into a blow hole, or into another arch.
Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate. Most limestone is composed of skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral.
Limestone makes up about 10% of the total volume of all sedimentary rocks. The solubility of limestone in water and weak acid solutions leads to karst landscapes, in which water erodes the limestone over thousands to millions of years. Most cave systems are through limestone bedrock.
