Palais Starhemberg in Minoritenplatz is a palace in the 1st district of Vienna Inner City. It is one of the oldest baroque palaces of Vienna and forms next to the Leopoldine Wing of the Hofburg, the only example of early Baroque palace architecture in Vienna.

The palace was commissioned by Conrad Balthasar Starhemberg in 1667 in an Italian architect commissioned. The former estate at this point was previously purchased in 1661 by Count Starhemberg by the owner Hans Friedrich of coupon village. At the time of the Second Siege of Vienna in 1683 under Field Marshal Ernst Rüdiger Starhemberg, the son of the owners, the defense of Vienna was directed at the Palais.

It was characterized initially in the possession of the Nádasdy family and later by Ladislaus Count Festetics de Tolna. This allowed smaller conversions by Alois Pichl Empire style perform.

In 1853 was Jakob Ritter von Lowenthal new owner, in 1862, however, it passed into the possession of the k. K. State railway company. Finally, the building came in 1871, owned by the state and used to house the Ministry of Culture and Education. In 1875, there was a increase in the Palais. To date, it serves both as a seat of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research and the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.
