EN: The Rhaetian Museum is located in the Buol house in Chur's Old Town. The museum houses over 100,000 objects from more than 5000 years of history of the canton.
The museum was opened in 1872. The initiators the establishment was a group of people around the lawyer, historian and politician Peter Conradin von Planta-Zuoz, who wanted to countervail the increasing exodus of valuable cultural assets from the canton.
The museum is located in a Baroque mansion which was built in 1675 by Baron Paul von Buol to Strassberg and Rietberg (1634-1697) at the site of a former arsenal.
DE: Das Rätische Museum befindet sich im Haus Buol in der Churer Altstadt. Das Museum beherbergt über 100'000 Objekte auf über 5000 Jahren Geschichte des Kantons.
Das Museum wurde 1872 eröffnet. Hinter der Gründung stand ein Gruppe von Personen um den Juristen, Historiker und Politiker Peter Conradin von Planta-Zuoz, die der zunehmenden Abwanderung von wertvollem Kulturgut aus dem Kanton entgegenwirken wollten.
Das Museum befindet sich in einem barocken Patrizierhaus, das 1675 von Freiherr Paul von Buol zu Strassberg und Rietberg (1634–1697) am Ort eines ehemaligen Zeughauses erbaut wurde.
