Inspired by the Christmas Box Angel, the original of which apparently no longer exists, this angel stands in a setting very similar to that of another replica in Stow, Ohio. It was Richard Paul Evans who introduced the Christmas Box Angel to the world in the book The Christmas Box. Hearing of grieving mothers seeking out the angel, he commissioned a replica, which was dedicated on December 6, 1994-corresponding with the date of the child’s death in the book. That angel was the work of father and son team Ortho and Jared Fairbanks of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Another angel similar to this one was introduced to Silver Springs Cemetery in Stow, Ohio in 2001. It stands encircled by brick pavers faced by meditation benches and surrounded by flower and shrub beds. The setting for this angel, in Calvary Cemetery in Portland, is very much the same as that of the Stow angel.

The original statues are cast in bronze. As part of the “Christmas Box Angel” movement a copy can still be bought for $14,500, including delivery. They are 4’ 3" tall, and have a wingspan of 5’ 2". This angel was dedicated August 11, 2002.
