The Oregon Trunk Railroad reached Bend from the north in 1911 and the depot was built at that time using a local rock source. The original location was a block north of the railroad overpass over Greenwood Avenue (N 44° 03.657’ W 121° 18.411’). Bend was the end of the line until 1928 when the Great Northern Railroad reached Bend from the south. In the 1990’s planning was underway for construction of a new route for Hwy. 97 through Bend and the Depot was in the way. By the late 1990s the Depot had been taken apart, stone by stone. About 4000 stones were numbered and photographed and moved to a new location. In 2001 the Depot had been reassembled at this location, a mile southwest of its original location.
