EN: The Gallo-Roman temple of Schauenburgfluh is located west of Frenkendorf directly over a vertical rock wall. The site can be accessed via a footpath from the west.
The temple had a square plan with a side length of about 5.2 meters and a surrounding platform of about 9 meters width.
The eastern corner of the temple broke away together with the underlying rocks. The site was investigated and conserved in 1961. Tiles, pottery and coins were uncovered, which were brought to the Museum Basel-Land. The coins allowed a dating of the period of use to the first to fourth century AD.
DE: Der gallo-römische Tempel befindet sich auf der Schauenburgfluh westlich von Frenkendorf direkt über der senkrechten Felswand. Die Stelle ist über ein Fussweg von Westen her zugänglich.
Der Tempel hatte eine quadratischen Grundriss mit einer Seitenlänge von etwa 5.2 Metern und ein Umgangspodium von etwa 9 Metern Breite.
Die östliche Ecke des Tempels ist mit dem darunter liegenden Felsen abgebrochen. Die Fundstelle wurde 1961 untersucht und konserviert. Dabei wurden Ziegel, Keramikfunde und Münzen freigelegt, die sich heute im Museum Basel-Land befinden. Die Münzen erlaubten eine Datierung der Benutzungsperiode auf das erste bis vierte Jahrhundert nach Christus.
