The Quilchena Hotel was built by Joseph Guichon, a local rancher, to serve as an overnight stopover stagecoaches and tourists coming to visit Nicola Lake. It was forced to close in WW1 but reopened in 1958 as a botique hotel. It has 15 rooms a restaurant, bar and 9 hole golf course. The rooms are decorated with antiques befitting the era. The property is now owned and managed by Douglas Lake Ranch.

The current Lt Governor of BC is Judith Guichon, a well known rancher from the Nicola Valley and related by marriage to the original Guichon family. See (visit link)
