In Dartmouth, off Horseneck Road, is Allens Pond Massachusetts Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary is near the intersection of Horseneck Road and Beach Road. The parking area is to the east of this road. There are three trailheads: One on Allens Neck Road, one further up East Horseneck Road, and the Field Station on Horseneck Road, which is where we entered. At the end of the parking lot, there is a kiosk that has a map of the sanctuary. The trails at the Allens Pond Neck Road entrance do not appear to connect to the trails of the other two entrances.

There are many educational programs offered by the sanctuary. They also participate in the South Coast Osprey Monitoring program. In mod-August they have the Duck Derby - a fundraiser involving rubber ducks floating in the tidal brook to the pond.
