For some reason, the
FindAGrave record for Raymond Lafayette Pendergrass lists him as having been a Colonel. But the
Carroll County News obituary mentions that he attained the rank of Major General, also stating that he served in Korea from 1952 to 1953 with the Arkansas National Guard 217th Medical Collecting Corps. He was appointed adjutant general of the Missouri National Guard, and was a teacher of history and political science and director of student financial aide at the University of Missouri, Rolla.
He retired to Holiday Island, AR. He was born on the day after Christmas of 1930, and passed away on 23 January 2007. This marble bench was placed in the Holiday Island Veterans Memorial Park. Along the front edge is his rank and name. On the supports are US ARMY, and RETIRED.
