Spencer Road crosses Reservoir Road twice and this building is just west of the more southerly of the two crossings, 400 metres north on Reservoir Road from Highway 3. The factory was constructed by the Doukhobors in 1935 and operated only four years before it, along with another Doukhobor jam factory in Brilliant, BC, was burned by terrorists in 1939.
This building was a maintenance building for the jam factory and is one of two of the original brick buildings remaining on the site. The bricks were made only one block north at the Doukhobors' brick factory.
It is now privately owned but can either be viewed from the street or one can enter the driveway and ask the owners for permission to view the building. They are happy to share their heritage building with interested passersby.
The date plaque is a concrete plaque set in a concrete header over the door in the west wall of the building.
