This memorial is dedicated to the men who fought and died in WWI, WWII, and Korea. Each war's name and years fought are etched in the west, south, and east sides of the monument. The flags of Oakville, Ontario, and Canada fly high above it. I cannot find when this monument was dedicated, but I can say with certainty that it has been around since at least 1985. When I was a kid in sailing school at the nearby yacht club, we used to play around the monument.
Type of Memorial: Multi-War Memorial
Wars mentioned (Multi-war only): WWI, WWII, Korea
In Honor Of: Those That Died
Who Put it Here?: Unsure. Perhaps the municipality of Oakville
Description of Memorial: The monument is to the east of nearby Bronte Harbor. If you go walk west over the bridge and turn left, there is a nice stroll along the lakeshore as well. Take a look at the boats and massive yachts, and think of the men who made these things possible. Their memory lives on in the monument.
