This tunnel is on the Leicester section of the Grand Union canal and allows two way traffic but has no tow path. Boats used to be legged through and the horses walked over the top of the hill.

One of the pictures shows boats passing in the tunnel.

The Leicester section of the Grand Union canal is part of the link between Nottingham and London via the River Trent, River Soar and the Grand Union.
