This is a one way tunnel with a towpath. It is just above Chirk (Y Waun). The Llangollen canal is very popular with tourists and can get very busy in the summer. The canal is used as a feeder from Horseshoe Falls above Llangollen all the way down to Hurlestone Reservoir where the canal meets the Shropshire Union main line. Consequently there is a constant current and heading northwards through the tunnel can be very slow.

We first went in the late autumn as the holidaymakers had gone and it was quieter but we were hindered by many leaves in the canal which kept getting caught in our propeller. So we were no better off!
